With over 11 years deep in the trenches of the Underground, Nonfiction has helped contribute to the Southern California Dance scene for well over a decade. Holding a 5 year residency at the well respected house weekly-Focus, as well as being a regular at the Los Angeles underground Dynagroove, NF has shared the decks several times with world class talent such as Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, Dj Sneak, Heather, Ian Pooley, Mastiksoul, Kaskade, Diz and countless others!
Always one to take the road less traveled, NF plays by his own rules, mixing elements of house, tech, funk, hip hop, soul, electro…NF has carved out a sound that is truly his own. Having started out in the early days as a hip hop dj, NF grew tired of feeling like a “human jukebox” and switched full time to the carefree spirit of house and dance music that he had always had an affinity for….
These days NF is addicted to music production, combining his analog gear(drum machines, Synths) with his Pro tools set up, he spends his days(and nights) locked up his studio working away to produce the “sounds he hears in his head”. NF has released two Eps, working with respected vocalist E-man from New York, as well as several other productions set to be released consistently in 2009 and beyond!
“I really geek out on my music production, testing my tunes out on every system possible to ensure that everything is in place and that it sounds as good as humanly possible. Although the concepts and ideas are important, I really believe that if the track is not sonically correct, it doesn’t matter how clever the song or arrangement is”
