Hailing from Riga, Latvia, Artie Flexs rose to prominence at the tender age of 22 with his “Disco Space” EP on Lost My Dog Records, which was chosen as Tune of The Month by Mixmag.

He has since released another successful EP and an artist’s album on Lost My Dog. The “Damaged” EP gained support from the likes of Nick Warren, Fred Everything and Dubfire, while the artist’s album “The Journey” showed a real coming of age for the young upstart from Riga.

Obsession is a dangerous thing. I’ve been obsessed with making beats and DJing since I realised I wasn’t going to make it as a professional footballer. I was 14 then. I had fucking no chance to be honest. I love profanity, it’s another obsession of mine, as is football (that’s soccer to you yanks) And yes, that is patronising but better to be on the safe side. So where were we? Yes, obsession. Ever since I frequented the Tunnel Under 18′s and had this otherworldly experience. What the fuck was this music they were playing? I had never heard this shit on the radio. How could you get it? Where did you buy it? Fuck me, I’m on a podium with a lightstick and a Daniel Poole jumper. That was it, I wanted to play and make this kind of music, I was hooked. First electronic record I bought was a Belgian import – Neon – The Creator. Bet you can guess what that sampled? (The first record I ever bought was The Human League – Don’t You Want Me Baby. Well, technically my mum bought it as I was only 4 years old but you get the picture) It turns out that the records they were playing at The Tunnel were Slam – Positive Education and a very sneaky promo mix of Energy 52 – Cafe del mar – at least 3 years before that tune blew up. Those were the 2 in particular that stood out for me. Fact: I saw The Prodigy at the Tunnel U18S for three quid. No bullshit. They were promoting Experience. Anyway, obsession… So I’ve gone through phases like everyone else, loved happy hardcore and mental techno back then, got quite a few gigs playing that as well, learned my craft as a DJ, how to read a crowd, things that have always stayed with me – but I always returned to House and soul music. Bought a sampler, tried to make trax, failed miserably. Went to Uni, lived in France for a year – I can speak French. Did I mention that I can speak French and lived in France? A series of girlfriends came and went, relationships often a casualty of this all-consuming obsession. Got my degree and a series of jobs that I had no interest in, first release in 2003, house, mortgage etc etc always wanted to jack it all in and just dj and make music full-time. Which I finally did at the end of 2006. Best decision I’ve ever made. Which takes us to now. The bold digital era. The digital era has taken away as much as it has given. What I miss most is getting up early on a Saturday morning, going to the record shops, and scouring, hunting for those records that you heard or read about, knowing there were only gonna be 5 promo copies in the shop and paying over the odds to get one. And absolutely delighted to do so, buzzing because you knew you were going to play it out later that night and watch people go nuts on your dancefloor. Or finding a new amazing track by a hitherto unknown to you artist and championing their cause. Budgeting for 35 quid on vinyl and spending 80. Then doing it all over again on the Monday. Those were the days. Nowadays it’s click, preview, add to cart, no human interaction. Not all change is good. So anyway, I’m lucky enough to have some good residencies here in Glasgow, I play all sorts these days, hip-hop, soul, funk, rock, indie, pop, electro, reggae, latin, fidget, b-more, drum n bass, house, whatever, anything goes. Crowd pleasers mainly, anything to get a dancefloor reaction usually, but obviously it depends on the gig. I believe it’s healthy to be influenced by forms of music other than House, but I’m still obsessed with making House music, perfecting the beats………….. a worthwhile obsession in my view.

In a very short space of time Giom has become one of the most highly sought after producers, remixers and DJs in the deep house scene. His music is consistently found at the top of download store sales charts and in the sets of DJs from house music’s jetsetting elite to bedroom jocks in every corner of the world.

Giom was born in Niort, France and now lives in London. Discovered by DJ Heather through MySpace in 2006, his initial releases were quickly signed to Amenti Music, Aroma and Kolour Recordings, alongside Heather’s own Blackcherry imprint. He has gone on to work with labels including Om Records, Ornate and LCG Music, providing both original music and remixes for artists including Fred Everything, Jay-J and LawnChair Generals. He can also be found recording as one half of Bobby and Klein. In 2010 Giom joined forces with UK label Lost My Dog for a partnership that will see him release a string of EPs and remixes, full length projects and headline LMD events.

As a DJ, Giom is a regular at Fabric, sharing the bill with the likes of DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Fred Everything and JT Donaldson. His energetic sets have led to a hectic tour schedule which means most weekends he can be found headlining in clubs from Australia to the United States and back around mainland Europe.

Away from house music Giom’s talents as a professional drummer are also highly sought after and have seen him tour and record for Zarif, The Nextmen and Kasabian amongst others.

Harold Heath’s illustrious career began around the turn of the century and has earned him a reputation as one of the most consistent yet unsung heroes in UK house music. Aside form Lost My Dog his discography includes some of the worlds most respected underground labels including Detour, Plastic City, Stickman, Uhuru Beats, Oblong, Sensei and Urban Torque. It was for Urban Torque that he recorded his debut album ‘Hole Funk’.

Harold Heath’s first outing on Lost My Dog was in 2006 after he contacted the label asking to remix Adam B’s ‘Smoketoke’. As long-time fans of Harold’s music, it was a no brainer to take him up on the opportunity and launched a relationship which has seen the Brighton based DJ and producer release three EPs and six remixes for the careless canine owners. Supporters of Harold’s music on Lost My Dog have been wide ranging, including Tony Humphries, CJ Mackintosh, Mark Farina, Roger Sanchez and even Fedde Le Grand, who included ‘Streets Keep Rocking’ on his Ministry of Sound Sessions mix CD.

James Curd began his DJing career in Chicago when he was only fifteen years old and, at nineteen, released his first track on the globally respected Parisian label Basenotic. This release spawned ‘Greenskeepers’, a name with which Curd could represent himself, the wide range of music he wrote and the artists he collaborated with. As Greenskeepers, Curd released an array of music on Classic Records and made his mark on the dance music world by infusing swing music and Chicago house to invent the term G-Swing, being short for Greenskeepers Swing. G-Swing became a flagship label in house music alongside his other labels Igloo and Greenskeepers Music. Curd has released four full-length albums as Greenskeepers, most recently ‘Live Like You Want To Live’ and has achieved individual success with releases on DFA, Smash Hit, Drop, Child’s Play, OM, Ministry Of Sound, Aroma and Defected.

Four of his songs have been featured on TV show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, while others have appeared on ‘C.S.I Miami’, ‘Point Pleasant’, ‘MTV Real World’, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and computer game ‘Grant Theft Auto 4’. His music can also be found in foreign films as well as mainstream movies such as ‘What Happens In Vegas’ and the hugely successful animation ‘The Incredibles’. If you listen carefully, you will even find Curd’s work on BBC documentaries and American Airlines inflight radio!

Curd has toured the world over DJjing and playing live with Greenskeepers, renowned for his energy behind the decks and his ability to make a party. His sets have continued to earn the respect of veteran club goers but his capabilities have enabled him to lure the new kids to the dance floor when he plays. Curd has performed at some of the world’s most respected clubs – from Fabric in London, The Avalon in Los Angeles, Home in Sydney to The Arches in Glasgow. Curd has also been part of festivals such as Park Life in Australia, Lollapalooza In Chicago, T In The Park in Scotland and Electric Picnic in Ireland.

Non smoking, 5’11″, near-veteran House music producer originally from Derbyshire, slowly greying but still looks OK for age, is seeking the ultimate song for release. Must be up for good times, deep beats, soulful vibes and the occasional chilled night in. Enjoys nicely syncopated rhythms, heavy melodies, outgoing quirkiness and a quality glass full of cheap Brandy and Coke – hold the ice. Comes with a bit of history, mostly spanning 10 years of music releasing and remixing for numerous labels and artists, but don’t let that put you off. GSOH (Male, 30-something)

Magazine Quotes

DMC Update
Yse reaffirming his position as a fast-rising exponent of house in its purest form.

iDJ
The improbability named Ant Plate is one half of Matlock’s finest Rhythm Plate. His name, coupled with the kudos of the label, should already have every self-respecting deep house nut getting their wallet out. Rugged drums, old skool bass, wiggle – classic stuff indeed, no wonder LMD are going potty about this.

DJ Mag
‘Yse Saxless Mix’ is bad to the bone, dirty funk-house driven by a niggling piano that prods at the track like an irritating kid.

DJ Reactions

Phil Weeks: Just to let you know That “Bounce Back” sounds crazy. I destroyed places with it last weekend.

Fred Everything: This is amazing. Bounce back is a real dancefloor treat. Worked amazingly on saturday at my Lazy Days party. Love it, it’s off the hook. Will be on my hotlist for WMC!

Joey Youngman: whoa, both the original YSE tracks are fucking hot and i will be playing both of them a lot! Ha, that rhymes! that was the track of the conference this year in my opinion.

John Buckby (Winding Road): Just writing a quick note to say how fuckin schweet the YSE tracks are. Really, really cool – some of the best house i’ve heard in ages.

Harold Heath: The YSE mix is the best of a nice bunch of deep house mixes, for the simple reason that Ants productions don’t really sound like anyone else.

Tres Manos: Oh yeah!!! Very nice guys!! YSE mix kills is for me!!
