The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
Lost My Dog’s first EP of 2012 see’s Canadian stalwart Jon Delerious, best known for his music on Nordic Trax, debut on the label. Three original cuts are backed by remixes of the title track from two of the current hottest names in deep house – Huxley and Giom.

What does it sound like?
The sound is typical Delerious and Lost My Dog – lush, warm, deep grooves always with an eye firmly on the dancefloor. Huxley’s mix is throbbing and driving with glorious breaks into the sweeping strings, while Giom takes things into piano-led moody territory underpinned by another of his huge trademark basslines.

Who’s involved?
Calgary’s Jon Delerious has been a staple of the ‘west coast’ house scene since his first ‘big’ gig in 1992. Since then his production talents have seen him grow into an internationally respected DJ/producer with his music being supported by a diverse array of artists from Gilles Peterson through to Laurent Garnier. He’s played around the globe with some of house music’s finest including ‘Little’ Louie Vega, Carl Cox, Mark Farina and Ben Watt. A regular on Nordic Trax he’s also been featured on City Life, Doppelgaenger, Filter Music and more over the years.

Huxley’s meteoric rise in recent months has made him one of the hottest names in deep house, with a string of releases on labels such as Morris Audio, Leftroom and Tsuba. Having appeared on Lost My Dog’s last release with a remix of ‘Looking Back’ by Mike Richardson, Howard Sessions and KT Forrester, the man from Tring is back straight away with a rework of ‘Believe In You’.

Now firmly one of LMD’s mainstays, Giom kicks of another busy year with his first remix. 2011 saw the London-based Frenchman release his first mix CD ‘Clips & Space’ alongside a string of original tracks and remixes for the label, as well as headlining LMD events at Fabric and Sonar.

This EP kicks off an exciting 2012 for Lost My Dog which will feature new music from Ian Pooley, Moodymanc, Pete Dafeet, Demarkus Lewis, Dale Howard and YSE feat. Frank H. Carter III.

DJ Reactions

Florian Kruse: guys!!! if you keep on releasing so many quality tracks like you did in the past 6 months I am sure the lost my dog tracks make a 50% of my sets. Thumbs up! 2011 was a LOST MY DOG year! thats for sure
Soul Minority: Believe in you Original and Giom remix are my favs here. Will play and support, thanks for sending !
Aki Bergen: It’s all about the Huxley remix!
Inland Knights: remember is up my street
Shur-I-Kan: very cool EP – thanks guys!
Giom: Remember and the Huxley mix are amazing. As usual this is very well done, very playable, very reliable and another great LMD EP.
Brothers Vibe: Sweet man…Will play!
Chris Carrier: dope stuff thanks
Sebastian Davidson: Strong strong package! Originals and Giom remix are my picks!!

Press Quotes

Mixmag: “Lost My Dog has become one of the UK’s top deep house stables”
DJ Mag: “Lost My Dog has become a byword for straight-up, quality house music”
Data Transmission: “One of the best home-grown house music labels to emerge in the UK this century”

In Flux – “a strong contender for deep house record of the year” Tune Of The Month (iDJ)
Yellow – “I wish Lost My Dog would stop releasing such good records, it’s getting embarrassing!” Tune Of The Month (iDJ)
Looking Back – Tune Of The Month (DJ Mag, Spain)
Feelin’ Me – “A warm Detroit sound, the charm of Jamaica but with this casual driving groove that can only come from England. A journey through time” (DeBug, Germany)
Meddlin’ With Me Melody – “More quality deep house here … on the ever reliable Lost My Dog (This Is Why We Dance)
No Matter How Far – “A solid five tracker” (Mixmag)
Feel The Crowd – “Premier League beats” (DJ Mag Spain)
Mister Marvellous – “this is one of the sickest records I’ve heard on Lost My Dog” (5 Mag)
Beyonder – “every so often LMD uncorks a tune which ups even their bar, such as this label debut from Japan’s Humandrone” (Data Transmission)
Guessing Games – “full of soulful yearning, defiance and warmth…Get on this one people” (Newsicmoos)
Hard Yards – “a great piece of vocal house music” (Tilllate)
Shake Shake – “You could have split this EP into two separate releases and no one would have felt short changed” (Data Transmission)
One Love – “Classic deep house sounds … One Love is BIG!” (Rodon, Greece)

The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
Howard Sessions’ third recent outing on Lost My Dog is arguably the most exciting to date and sees him team up with Mike Richardson and singer/songwriter KT Forrester for the vocal deep house bomb ‘Looking Back’. An all-star remix line up features new LMD friends Huxley and Matt Gray alongside regular canine-catchers Pete Dafeet and YSE (Rhythm Plate).

Who’s involved?
Mike Richardson and Howard Sessions have previously worked together on Re:tweak Records, but this is their first collaboration with Manchester’s KT Forrester. KT is a very talented singer-songwriter with a wide range of influences that have seen her appear on hip hop records (with F.O.A.K.) and breakbeat tracks (with MRK1), pick up plays from Huw Stephens and Jenna G on BBC Radio, and support the chart topping Devlin at his live shows. Also from Manchester, Mike Richardson can be found spinning house music over the airwaves for Unity FM, while Leeds-based Howard can be found peddlin’ his wares and meddlin’ with his melodies on other Lost My Dog releases, 3am and Kolour.

Huxley’s meteoric rise in recent months has made him one of the hottest names in deep house with a string of releases on labels such as Morris Audio, Leftroom and Tsuba. As an artist we’ve had our eye on closely for a while at Lost My Dog it’s a pleasure to finally have him grace the label and we’ve already twisted his arm into a second remix for release in 2012.

Matt Gray has releases on Elite Records and Re:Tweak to date and planned releases on Tim Sheridan’s VeryVeryWrongIndeed, with whom he’s currently working as a studio engineer. Matt also holds down monthly residencies at top London venues Bar Vinyl and The Shoreditch.

Pete Dafeet and YSE should be more than familiar to followers of Lost My Dog by now and there’s no real need for us to bang on about them here. So we won’t!

The Lowdown

Dominic Martin is the man responsible for the second installment of Lost My Dog’s ‘Family Affair’ series, which began in February 2011 with Harold Heath. The series of full-length projects aims to shine a spotlight on the artists that have shaped the sound of the label. Glaswegian Dominic presents a 14 track mix containing no less than eight brand new tracks made specially for the album and a new remix from Giom. The remaining five tracks mark Dominic’s personal LMD highlights including remixes of his work by house heavyweights Milton Jackson and Johnny Fiasco.

Ahead of the full album and DJ mix release in January 2012, we have 3 DJ friendly samplers hitting the shelves throughout November.

The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
‘Love Tip EP’ marks the second appearance in as many months for Gareth Whitehead on Lost My Dog. Following his recent collaboration with Random Factor, the Glasgow based DJ/producer now joins another 2020 Vision artist Tom Taylor (aka one half of The Electric Press). A pair of original tracks are remixed by Lost My Dog artists old and new – Robsoul boss Phil Weeks notches up his third remix on ‘On A Tip’, while newcomer Howard Sessions and LMD chief hound catcher Pete Dafeet each tackle ‘One Love’.

What does it sound like?
‘One Love’ goes deep and meanders around classic pianos, subtle strings and a brief female vocal. Dafeet gets all chunky and Howard emphasises the piano. ‘On A Tip’ is a more techy affair with pulsing synths over bubbling bass. Phil Weeks jacks the beat over a throbbing bass-driven groove.

Who’s involved?
Tom Taylor and his label 2Pin Records build on the success he found as one half of The Electric Press. He holds a wealth of accolades most producers would kill for including the hit ‘Reevaluate’ on 2020 Vision and remixes of Daft Punk, Kelis, Erykah Baduh, Armand Van Helden and DJ T. Recent work has seen him release under the funk inspired guise Celestial as well as deeper house moments under his own name supported by the likes of Steve Bug, Josh Wink and Ben Watt.

Gareth Whitehead is a vastly experienced producer, engineer, DJ and artist who has established his own signature brand of deep, dubby tech-house and minimal. As a label owner he set up techno label Edit/Select with Soma legend Percy X and in 2007 established his own Bulletdodge Records. Gareth has released music on labels such as Naked Lunch, Parallel 125 and Safari Numerique, receiving support form the likes of Joris Voorn, Slam, Anja Schneider and Ricardo Villalobos.

Phil Weeks needs little introduction – with more than 10 years and 100 releases on his Robsoul label, the Parisian is part of the fabric of underground house music. Similarly, Lost My Dog’s own Pete Dafeet has been doing it for some time now on his own label and further afield for Toolroom, Detour and Shaboom. Leeds resident Howard Sessions recently debuted on Lost My Dog with ‘Meddlin With Me Melody’ and the next LMD release will see him collaborate with KT Forrester and Mike Richardson on the vocal-led ‘Looking Back’. Howard can also be found on Kolour, 3am and Re:tweak Records.

The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
Following his Lost My Dog debut on the recent ‘Who’s Got Him? EP’ sampler, Acid Andee now releases the five-track ‘Stab Fever EP’. Four brand new tracks appear alongside ‘Callao’ from the earlier sampler – a track which earned the Italian DJ and producer praise from the likes of Huxley, Moodymanc, Kolombo and Elmar Schubert.

What does it sound like?
There’s a wide range of sounds an influences across this EP – from the energetic title track ‘Stab Fever’, to the deep and groovy ‘Feelin’ Me’, the blissful and laidback ‘Talking Bass’ and ‘Sea Fever’, and the classic US house sounds on ‘Callao’.

Who’s involved?
Originally from Venice, Acid Andee (Andrea Zanenghi) started his music career around the turn of the century as part of Arm Your Sampler, an electronic music team with Broken Chips and Black Dance. With Arm Your Sampler he played live all around Italy with names like Kiki, Kevin Saunderson and Don Rimini.

Now residing in Madrid and working as a solo artist, his first EP was released on Tunz Tunz Records in August and brought a strong Detroit techno taste while heavily referencing the old school and deep house. ‘Stab Fever EP’ is his second full solo outing and comes as Andee finalises preparations for a new live solo – a mixture of deep funky house with that all important classic feeling.

DJ Reactions

Ashley Beedle: Sea Fever is the one for me. Deep warehouse ting!
Shane Johnson (Fish Go Deep): Feelin’ Me is cool. Like the way the groove develops throughout the track
Sumsuch (Seven Music/Urban Torque): Lovely release- feeling all the tracks here
Li’ll Bo Tweak (Chris Belsey & Trevor Loveys): Great EP! Really strong…Every track is killer. Especially love Stab Fever, Talking Bass & Sea Fever… Will be playing out for sure!
Luke Solomon: this is great
Moodymanc: really cool ep…all feel like ‘players’ to me…on the DL and into the bag ta
Grant Nelson: Schweeet!
Abyss (Buzzin Fly, Tea Boy. Compost): good deep and classic houseeeeee!!!
Elmar Schubert: Stab Fever all the way, those warm chords are shifted like crazy throughout the tracks. My favourite is Callao though, classic deep house with uplifting vocals and slamming beats.

The Lowdown

Leeds resident and one of the team behind Re:tweak Records, Howard Sessions debuts on Lost My Dog Records after pricking up the label’s ears with previous outings on Kolour, 3am and his own imprint. Obviously having a track named ‘Barking’ also helped seal the deal!

2 versions by Howard of ‘Meddlin’ With Me Melody’ are accompanied by a remix from Larry Fives, best known as one half of UK house legends Inland Knights. Upcoming producer Jesus Pablo has also impressed of late and is drafted in to remix ‘Barking’.

This is the first of three Lost My Dog releases that Howard is currently involved with – he will also release ‘Looking Back’ in collaboration with KT Forrester and Mike Richardson and a remix of ‘One Love’ by Tom Taylor and Gareth Whitehead in the remainder of the year.

The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
What’s it all about?
Random Factor, part of the fabric of UK underground house culture, joins forces with Bulletdodge Records boss Gareth Whitehead on a new collaboration for Lost My Dog Records. ‘The Wons Around EP’ sees the duo release three tracks and two remixes that should appeal to fans of their previous solo work for labels including 2020 Vision, Freerange, Get Physical, Music For Freaks, Safari Numerique and BCBtec. It’s an esteemed discography that Lost My Dog are delighted to be joining.

What does it sound like?
It’s a melting pot of underground house sounds – deep, techy, acidic, trippy and soulful elements all combine.

Who’s involved?
Carl Finlow has a 25-year career of writing and recording music. He was first involved with Warp and in 1995 he and Ralph Lawson set up 2020 Vision Records, producing deep house flavours of their own as Wolf and Flow and under his own solo guise of Random Factor. As Random Factor, Carl has recorded three albums for 2020 Vision alongside countless singles, EPs and remixes. His output under various other aliases has appeared on labels including Fuel, Playhouse, Paper, Trope, Sony, Klang, Arista, Soma, Pagan and Minifunk.

Gareth Whitehead is a vastly experienced producer, engineer, remixer, DJ and artist that has established his own signature brand of deep, dubby tech-house and minimal. As a label owner he set up techno label Edit/Select with Soma legend Anthony Scott (Percy X) and in 2007 established his own label Bulletdodge Records. Gareth has also released music on labels such as Naked Lunch Records, Parallel 125, Cubism and Safari Numerique, receiving support form the likes of Joris Voorn, Slam, Tony Rohr, Anja Schneider and Ricardo Villalobos.

The Lowdown

What’s it all about?
5 tracks by 5 artists – all demos that landed in the Lost My Dog inbox in recent months that we instantly fell in love with! It’s as simple as that!

What does it sound like?
It’s good old-fashioned groovy deep house as always with Lost My Dog! One for the fans of Maya Jane Coles, Burnski, Jimpster, Martin Dawson, Inland Knights and Jay Tripwire.

Who’s involved?
Harold Heath and Tom Lown have both worked with Lost My Dog previously – Harold is a true LMD stalwart having released 3 EPs, countless remixes and kicking off the label’s ‘Family Affair’ compilation series earlier in 2011, while Tom Lown was responsible for 2010’s ‘Love Potion EP’ which came backed by a Harold Heath remix and a further standalone remix EP by Jay Tripwire.

Acid Andee is Andrea Zanenghi from Italy and ‘Callao’ marks his first ever release. He will release a four track EP on Lost My Dog later in 2011. Pretty Criminals have had recent outings on Open Bar, SP Recordings and Endemic Digital – here they team up with German producer Miami Ice who has just released an EP with Unrivaled Music. Angus Jefford is another debutant – based in Leeds he runs the house night LaLoop which hosted a Lost My Dog party with Giom and Pete Dafeet earlier in the year. Turns out he makes great music too!
