A1. Gettin Serious

B1. Gettin Serious (Sir Cosmic's Account)
B2. Gettin Serious (Matt J's Warped Out Dub)

Midlands duo Subterfuge make no nonsense jackin' house music aimed at the dancefloor. This is reflected in their DJ sets where they have made a name for themselves with their 4 deck 2 mixer outings in Derby, Nottingham and further a field. Here they team up with Tony Thomas for their debut release. With over 150 original productions, collaborations and remixes to his name Tony requires little introduction and is well established as one of house music's leading and most respected producers.

Gettin' Serious is based on tough jackin and shuffling tribal-esqe beats with a heavy dose of funk thrown into the mix. The beats are super tight and punchy, the bassline drives through the track and the little stabs and samples all combine perfectly to create a peak time monster. Getting Serious has seen widespread support from countless top jocks including Groove Armada, Greg Vickers, Da Sunlounge, Ross Couch and Gordon Kaye. Remixes come from Sir Cosmic (Igloo Records, Chicago) who turns up the bump factor, Matt J, who offers a dubbed out sleazy jackin' take and Lost My Dog head honcho Pete Dafeet, who turns in a minimal, rumbling, bass heavy re-rub.

Magazine Reviews

iDJ Magazine - April 2005
A new label from the East Midlands is always cause to celebrate. This Loughborough newbie kicks things off in typical Midlands style with a tribal cut that's got early Murk written all over it. Pete Dafeet, Matt J and Sir Cosmic's remixes go even deeper. Anyone who can DJ without the need for big room electro cuts will find something useful here. 3/5

Night Magazine – April 05
New label Lost My Dog really mean business here with their debut release, each mix providing something slightly different but equally hot. The original is a tribal-ish bomb, it doesn't do a great deal but what it does, it does well! Label boss Pete Dafeet adds a very bass-led remix, deep & deadly, while Matt J jacks things up & rework the track into a more US sound. My pick though is the Sir Cosmic mix, very slick & bumpy, not too jackin' & perfect for getting the floor jumping. More of this please, Lost My Dog! 4/4

New label `Lost My Dog` hits the ground running with their first release, "Gettin` Serious". Subterfuge & Tony Thomas team up to bring us a tough, peak time, tribal number, whilst label owner Pete Dafeet strips it down for the more minimal approach. Sir Cosmic provides the best track on the release, giving the track a more `boompty` feel, and Matt J checks in with a deep, bleepy remix.
