Bounce Back (Burnski Back To Deep Mix)
YSE aka Ant Plate is one half of Rhythm Plate along with Matt Rhythm, two friends who met at school through a mutual love of shoplifting and warm real ale. Hailing from the beautifully backward peak district town of Matlock, in Derbyshire, Ant and Matt began recording their efforts on a borrowed 8-track tape player down in the local bus station. Early attempts at pop stardom, however, were hampered by the duo's crippling tourette's syndrome. After conquering the bourgeoning village hall/pub scene in Matlock they set their sights on taking over the midlands through collaborations with Mantis (Derby), DiY and Winding Road (Nottingham) and Flat & Round (Manchester) - they find the transpeak bus service a particularly useful way of getting to gigs - and then eventually the world, by releasing material on labels "not from 'round 'ere" such as San Diego's Blue:m, San Francisco’s Roam and Portland's Losofono (LSF). At present Plate sells deep house insurance. Should the need arise, however, he is willing to travel to DJing gigs with his much-sought-after collection of cassette singles at the ready.
This is Ant’s second solo release for Lost My Dog and shows that he is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with on the deep house scene.
Make no mistakes; ‘Bounce Back’ is a massive release for us here at Lost My Dog, and a case in point for UK deep house. We’ve been sat on this release for several months like greedy schoolboys, and have road tested it with wide eyed glee at every opportunity. A few advance CDs we slipped out before Christmas did nothing to knock our enthusiasm - Derrick Carter, Phil Weeks and Jason Hodges all reported back with grins larger than the Cheshire cat. From the very first listen Bounce Back has instant appeal and if the garage style bass, bubbling synths and striking piano form the track’s roots, it’s the raw, almost coarse, vocal and spine tingling breakdowns which forge the track’s distinctive identity - YSE knows how to make house music, and in our opinion house music doesn’t get much better than this. Rounding off the A-side, ‘Possible Word’ is more akin to the tried and tested Rhythm Plate sound; warm and inviting in every way. The sultry spoken vocal and smooth pads coax the listener into uninhibited contentment while the groove does ALL the work.
2020 Vision prodigy Burnski is drafted in for remix duties on ‘Bounce Back’. Hailing from Hartlepool, just down the road from LMD HQ in Middlesbrough, the future is bright for the lad who began his musical career bunking a science exam to go and buy some turntables. At only 21 he’s already racked up releases on Infant, Trapez and Morris Audio, not to mention remixes and an album commission in the bag from Ralph Lawson’s Leeds house institution. His ‘3rd Time Lucky Mix’ combines gritty, crunchy drums with floating pads and filtered vocal snippets, while his ‘Back To Deep Mix’ is a subterranean affair; super deep bass and meticulous percussion reminiscent of Dano, Chus and Cebellos’ iconic “Deep Architecture”, released on 2020 Vision back in 2002.
We just hope you enjoy this release as much as we do!

A collab between Ant ‘Rhythm’ Plate and Lost My Dog, with 2020 upstart Burnski on the mix. It’s got to be a winner, right? It sure is. ‘Bounce Back’ has that chunky afterhours deep house thang down to a tee, like a collaboration between Ame, Derrick Carter and DIY. Burnski offers up two tasty flipside rubs, of which the stripped-down Back To Deep version is the pick. Proper 6am casualty fodder and no mistake. Nice. 4/5 MA

The improbability named Ant Plate is one half of Matlock’s finest Rhythm Plate. His name, coupled with the kudos of the label, should already have every self-respecting deep house nut getting their wallet out. Rugged drums, old skool bass, wiggle – classic stuff indeed, no wonder LMD are going potty about this. The spoken vocal of ‘Possible Word’ and two remixes by Burnski are just as rewarding. 4/5. JT.

The original version is deep, experimental, soft touch acidic house with enough swing and motion to move yer ass as if it was waxed with funk lotion. ‘Possible Word’ is a tense groove with a female spoken word in tow that works real well. Two more hefty mixes of ‘Bounce Back’ mingle deepness and funk for the floor. Lock onto the funky-ass mixes and forget that this shit came from Matlock for a moment, let’s be somewhere much more exotic. Four solid tunes to utilise. 4/5.
Update
Hailing from Derbyshire, Ant Plate aka YSE loves warm real ale and deep house. Sounding like Larry Heard gone electro-house, ‘Bounce Back1, his second solo release for Lost My Dog, is a lush, classy groove that1s a little loony and well catchy. On the flip 2020 Vision1s Burnski mixes turns out a couple of deeper interpretations. 4/5

Ant Plate and Matt Rhythm obviously have a good sense of humour as their LMD website biog has such in depth quotes as 'early attempts at pop stardom, were hampered by the duo's crippling tourette's syndrome' and 'at present Plate sells deep house insurance and Rhythm is a dancer'. I had to listen to this ep a few times before it etched itself firmly on my brain and thus I've found myself randomly shouting 'Bounce Back' in various stages throughout my day to day life. I included the original in my last podcast and it's in a mix that the production shines through with a steady piano stab throughout and the 'bounce back ' vocal looping towards the end of the track. Two remixes from LMD stable hand Burnski keep things deep and dubby in tune with the labels ethos, as is YSE's other track on the ep 'possible word'. One of my favourite labels at present and the Boro boys have done it again!

Great stuff, definitely the best LMD yet for me. I'm into
both YSE tracks. hard to pick a favourite between them but if
pushed i'm a bit of a sucker for deep chord progressions so i'd
go for "Possible Word". More like this please!
John Davis (Headtunes)
For me the one is definitely the original mix of 'Possible
world'. I love it. Deep but still a rocker. I think its
gonna be residing in my sets for a while and man it sounds wicked
on a big system. Thanks for turning me on to YSE I will be looking
out for more. Lost my dog have found something with this release
and I don't
think it's a dog either J Keep up the wicked releases

8/10 - Feeling the Original Mix of Bounce Back the most, especially
love the piano rhythm with that funky bass riff. The
Burnski 3rd Time Lucky Mix is nice also and I played it last
night on my show. It is also the one which will work
best out in the clubs
