The Lowdown

Lost My Dog welcome Atnarko to the label for his debut original EP, a super deep and groovy three-tracker, which will be released on 16th March 2009.  The Orlando producer, who co-owns the Eight-Tracks imprint, has recently remixed Daniel Kyo’s ‘Hypnotized’ and Nonfiction’s ‘P Power’ for Lost My Dog and impressed us so much we wanted to give him a bigger project.

Atnarko’s sleek productions, which he describes as “funky and fun”, have been pressed for underground imprints like Nightshift, Tango, Lowdown and Robsoul. Through his career he has joined Patrick Turner for the ‘Explicit Theory’ project and has worked with folks as varied as drum ‘n’ bass eradicator AK1200 and house-diva DJ Heather. His collaborations with British house-legend Huggy as ‘Formidable Force’ for the 2020 Vision label landed in the record crates of the world’s top house DJs who prized the duo’s quirky, yet floor-movin’ vibes.

Atnarko has licensed tracks to many compilations including OM, Fabric, Large, Street Beat and Fat City.  He is also an in-demand remixer and well travelled club DJ who wants nothing more than to “drop a groove down your spine (and inspire a smile on your face)”.

His long-time relationship with the like-minded Q-Burns Abstract Message continues to renew his creative energies.  Their monthly “Club Queso” event is known as one of Orlando and New York’s most notorious (and intoxicated) nights of four-on-the-floor debauchery: “Things tend to get pretty crazy there, and costumes are usually warranted.”  Atnarko also co-owns EIGHT-TRACKS, a vinyl based label dedicated to releasing conceptual house music with a
post-modernist—read: subversive—slant.

Magazine Reviews

DMC Update – 5/5

Lost My Dog is without doubt one of the finest UK underground house labels, cocking its leg since 2005 and squirting deep house gold: not overdoing it but putting quality over quantity. Danny Stott has appeared on Grouper, Dutchie and Tony Thomas’ New Era and Ambiosphere labels. Obviously a talent to watch with that essential house-techno grounding and knowledge essential for making quality tackle, thus ‘Circuits’ bristles with solid-bodied techno keyboard riffs and insidious groove-power but, most essential of all, is shot with its creators soul, stoking that indefinable feeling of warm elation which the best electronic dance music brings while trampling any category divides in the process. The Dub injects NY flavours, a route also pursued when Brighton’s Harold Heath comes in for a couple of sublime remixes armed with new bassline and deep texrtures which recall such giants as Wayne Gardner. I’ve used the dog’s bollocks line before but this wonderful package will sure be impossible to shake off once it starts humping your leg.

iDJ Mag – 7/10

There’s mucho quality amidst the trio of tracks on offer from the Orlando dude.  All three are, as befits someone who counts Q-Burns as a bosom busy, typically deep and subtly jazzy but it’s the quirky ‘Doom Doom’ that works best.  Bumping tribal with a hint of acid and some shimmering synths, it’s made by the ‘doom doom’ vocal riff of the title.

Our House Mag

Sublime deep grooves from Florida based, Antarko. On this EP you will 3 distinctly beautiful tracks, ‘Wrapped’ featuring Liz Bowman, ‘Know It’ and my personal favourite ‘Doom Doom’.  With all the 3 tracks you can feel the Florida sunshine and obviously a very topical choice with WMC ’09 being only a matter of weeks away. Feel the warmth, feel the love this is deep house heaven.
