Junia Ovadose – The 10-45 EP (LMDX016)

Catalogue Number: LMDX016 | Release Date: September 2009

The Lowdown

Junia Ovadose, an artist with one of the most intriguing names on the scene, joins Lost My Dog for an EP of pure, unadulterated, jazzy and energetic Chicago jacking bizznezz.  This one is for the fans of Derrick Carter, Sneak, DJ Heather and Johnny Fiasco, four of the premier names who have already shown their support for ‘The 10-45 EP’.  The EP name comes from the US police ten-code for ‘animal carcass on the highway’ and raises serious concerns about the whereabouts of our beloved pooch!!

Junia Ovadose is an artist we’ve been fans of for a long time with here at Lost My Dog; in fact he DJed at the very first Lost My Dog launch event back in 2005, but strangely it’s taken almost five years to release any of his music.  You could easily be forgiven for thinking he hails from the Windy City when you hear this EP, but in truth he’s from the northern town of Huddersfield in the UK.  His sound highlights perfectly just how far the Chicago styles of Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak et al have influenced dance music around the world.

Junia’s CV is very impressive with highlights including music for Greenskeepers’ Igloo and G-Swing imprints and DJ Pierre’s Strictly Rhythm sub-label DJP.  DJ wise he has performed regularly in New York, all over Europe and at some of the UK’s most respected parties such as Back To Basics, Hard Times and Le Bloc.  His music has been aired on Radio 1 by Pete Tong and on other leading UK dance stations Kiss FM and Galaxy FM.  As for the origins of his name, we’re not allowed to divulge!

A remix of ‘Post Modernism’ is provided by Sir Cosmic, who appeared with a remix on the first ever Lost My Dog release and, like Junia, came to fame thanks to James Curd’s Igloo label.  He has since recorded for Southside Shuffle, Shak Digital and AJ, a sub-label of Swirl People’s mighty Aroma Recordings.
