The Lowdown

Lost My Dog’s first offering of 2009 comes from the German duo of Jochen Pash and Normen Flaskamp as they join together for their new collaboration Deep Touched. The original deep and techy version is complemented by an acidic workout from LMD boss Pete Dafeet and two deep, percussive mixes from rising Spanish star Oscar Barila.

Jochen Pash is an integral part of the German dance music scene; a regular guest all over the country and resident at Stuttgart’s premier house establishment ‘Housession’ where he has played alongside the world’s top DJs including Eric Morillo, David Guetta and David Morales.  As a solo producer, he has released on Germany’s leading dance labels including Caballero, Tenor and House Works.  Most recently, his track ‘Mathematics’ featuring Chelonis R Jones has been blowing up.  Pash often works closely with funky house star Raul Rincon and Normen Flaskamp, with whom he teams up on this release.

Normen Flaskamp has too made a name for himself in Germany with several high profile remixes of Danny Tenaglia, DJ Chus & David Penn, Robbie Rivera and John Dahlback.  Original productions have been released on Mylo Records, King Kong and Caballero.

Despite a past based in funky and ‘big room’ house styles, Pash and Norm have a love for all styles of house music and decided to collaborate under the new name ‘Deep Touched’ to provide an outlet for their deep and tech house leanings.  Lost My Dog are extremely happy to be able to release the very first Deep Touched project.

Lost My Dog label boss Pete Dafeet provides the first remix of ‘Your Hands’. With releases over the past few years on labels including Robsoul, Headtunes, Uniform and Shaboom, Dafeet is now a well established member of the underground house community.  2009 is shaping up nicely already with remixes for Toolroom and Prismatic Tracks and more original material on Southside Shuffle.  Two original productions on Lost My Dog – ‘Alto’ and ’94′ – are scheduled for the first half of 2009, complete with remixes by Nacho Marco, YSE, Johan ELG and Andrew Phelan and Origami.

Oscar Barila, from Valencia, completes the package with two remixes.  Born in 1980, Barila has DJed at several clubs and festivals around Spain and has released his music on labels including Circle, Crya1Labworks, Minuendo and Khazuma.  Barila can count Hernan Cattaneo, Bryan Zentz, Valentino Kanzyani, Shinedoe, Marc Ashken, Terry Lee Brown Jr and Orlando Voorn amongst his supporters.  He also runs two labels of his own; My Little Dog and My Little Cat – naturally Lost My Dog couldn’t afford not to work with him after finding out about that!

DMC Update – 5/5 Recommended

Lost My Dog crept slyly out of the house-pound last year with four releases which cocked a collective leg and marked that special turf inhabited by such mighty imprints as 2020 and Classic. 2009 could be their year if they continue tunes of such high quality as this sublime outing from German duo Jochen Pash [resident at Stuttgart's Housession] and Norman Flaskamp [already released on Caballero, King Kong and Mylo]. The pair’s new Deep Touched project specialises in house burrowing down to tweak the mole’s stiffie, somewhat recalling the classic early 90s NYC sound as they hoist a keyboard riff not unlike Phuture’s ‘Rise From Your Grave’ and drape it with lush piano and contemporary sonic twists to create a intoxicating  beautiful atmosphere. The effect is heightened by the ‘Put your hands together’ hook, which is left off the Instrumental. Remix-wise, LMD honcho Pete Dafeet comes in with a slow-burning chugger taking the deep groove factor to delirious warpo levels. Then Valencia’s Oscar Barila [who, suitably, runs two labels called Mt Little Dog and My Little Cat] puts the cap on the canine testicles with two gorgeous reworks: his Nude Mix hits the spot with table-style pulses and luscious layers of keyboard textures while the Melodisco Mix is similarly magical with different patterns of icing on this deep house diamond of a package.
