Pete Dafeet delivers his 2nd Lost My Dog EP of 2012 with ‘Freeze’ in July. Whether it’s a reference to the British summer weather we’re not sure! Three original tracks – ‘Mistakes’, ‘Freeze’ and ‘Grit Your Teeth’ – are typical of the London producer’s much-loved style with snapping drums, dominating bass lines and strong melodies taking centre stage, all underpinned by heavy influences from the house/techno music capitals of Chicago, Detroit and New York. Remixes come from two of the brightest emerging talents in house music – the Australian/Czech duo of Shades Of Gray (Beef Records/Om Records) and another Aussie, Murat Kilic (Reckless Republic/Stil Vor Talent), who marks his hat-trick remix outing on Lost My Dog.
‘Freeze’ continues a string of releases by Pete on Lost My Dog in 2012, which began in February with the 3 track ‘Stutter’ (backed by Moodymanc remixes). His track ‘Rough Rider’ has just hit the shelves as part of the label’s ‘Sonar Musica 2012’ sampler and Pete will also feature on the next LMD release with a remix of Tom Taylor and Gareth Whitehead’s ‘I Came To Dance’ featuring the unmistakable vocals of Robert Owens. And if that’s not enough, the end of the summer will see Pete take the reigns for the 3rd installment of the Family Affair album/compilation series which will showcase some of his label highlights, feature new tracks and include new remixes of his tracks from Pezzner, Giom and Moodymanc.
Shades Of Gray have shot to fame in recent months off the back of their critically acclaimed ‘Soul Machine’ album and outings on Om Records, Tronicsole, Dark Energy, Moensterbox and their own Beef Records imprint. They also recently released the 4 track ‘All About The Drums EP’ on Lost My Dog. Their remix offers a meandering take on ‘Freeze’ with warped synths, pianos, a spoken word and a deep growling bass line doing the damage.
Murat Kilic returns to Lost My Dog after earlier remixes of Michelle Owen and Roland Nights. Murat is the man behind Sydney’s Reckless Republic brand (label, events promoter, booking agency). His productions can be found on Stil Vor Talent and Beef amongst other labels. Murat’s remix of ‘Freeze’ delivers a rolling tech-tinged, deep affair that teases in elements of the original track before dropping a heavy bass-led thumping groove for the dark heads-down moments.
