The Lowdown

We celebrate a fun-filled five years of releasing deep house with a mix compilation, ‘Lost My Dog: 5 Years & Still Looking’. Selected and mixed by LMD boss Pete Dafeet, the 14 track mix showcases the label’s highlights, including songs and remixes from the likes of Jay Tripwire, Milton Jackson, Fred Everything, Nathan Coles & Dave Coker and Burnski.

The mix presents a snapshot of the label’s output to date – a catalogue that has drawn plaudits from the UK dance press and beyond…

“Lost My Dog are unarguably one of the UK’s best deep house labels” Russell Deeks (iDJ)

“Lost My Dog release vibrant house music with balls of steel” Yogi Haughton (DJ Mag)

“Lost My Dog are single handedly restoring my faith in house music” Mazi (Audio Soul Project)

“A great UK label, filling a vital gaping hole for the many bemoaning the absence of slightly-twisted house labels like Classic and M.F.F. while joining imprints like 2020 as a bastion of pure, deep house.” Kris Needs (DMC Update)

Lost My Dog started from humble beginnings in Loughborough in early 2005 where students and DJ friends Pete Dafeet and Ian Straker hooked up with local record store owner Najan Ward. Fast forward five years and what started as a bit of fun has seen LMD grow into one of the UK’s most respected imprints (and the fun hasn’t decreased one bit!). The label has released music by the leading names the house scene has to offer, while never being afraid to work with new artists like Tommy Largo, YSE, and Dominic Martin.

Pete Dafeet is tasked with the near impossible job of summing up five years and over 200 tracks/remixes into a bite-sized CD package. The result is a reflection of the label’s high points – a demonstration of the range of house music LMD has released, while always staying true to the deeper roots of their influential Midland’s birthplace.

Pete Dafeet’s own rise as a musician and DJ maps that of Lost My Dog. Releasing his first record aged 20, he has gained greater recognition as he has developed, working with leading labels such as Toolroom and Robsoul, and picking up international bookings on an increasingly frequent basis. Support of Lost My Dog’s fifth anniversary has seen Pete tour the North West and East coasts of America (including the Miami WMC), play Sonar Off in Barcelona and visit Shanghai for the first time.
