Born and Raised in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, Michael Colledan aka Sir Cosmic grew up in a family that didn't listen to music. But surprisingly at a young age he fell in love with it through "borrowing" older cousin's tapes and secret late night radio listening sessions. At age seventeen, he began making hip hop beats, messing around with samples and dodgy freeware tracker programs. Before long he found house music and started to make beats in the bpm region of the mid 120's.
This of course led to DJing. He started to buy records and spin at birthday parties. His first residency was at legendary Melbourne house night Rhythmicity, playing alongside aNyO every Saturday night.
It was his residency at F4's Nasty night that saw him support internationals such as Heather, Raoul Belmans, James Curd, Roy Davis Jnr, Jason Hodges, Chris Lum, Slater Hogan & John Larner to much acclaim. He has also had the chance to play with Karl Almaria and Heather Doble whilst in Chicago late in 2005.
On the production front, Sir Cosmic got his first break by way of a pair of releases on Igloo records. He has also released on the Herbal Essence imprint and remixed for UK label Lost My Dog. He soon after started to play gigs across Australia. With a forthcoming release on fine Belgian imprint AJ, Sir Cosmic is definitely a name to watch for on your local record store shelves.
