The Lowdown

We welcome the talented Dexter to the label for ‘The Maximum House EP’, his first release for Lost My Dog.  The title ‘The Maximum House EP’ is Dexter’s statement against his frustration at the amount of soulless, minimal house flooding the industry.  It’s a super-deep-house three tracker containing lush, thick sweeping pads, vocal stabs and head-nodding beats; certainly not minimal.

Dexter has been a solid and consistent member of the UK deep and tech house scene since 2001 and has amassed an impressive string of releases for labels including Wiggle, Uhuru Beats, Beat Code, Headtunes, Low Pressings and Bosh.  He’s an artist that Lost My Dog have been following for some time and the label are delighted to finally be able to release some of his music.

Dexter discovered the sound of house at some of the notorious acid parties organised around London in the late 80’s; nights such as Mad Cats, Sabre Sonics and the RIP parties in Clink Street.  Later came the infamous Wiggle parties (currently celebrating their 15th birthday), which, along with founders Terry Francis, Nathan Coles and ‘Evil’ Eddie Richards, were to become a major influence on Dexter’s sound.

DMC Update – 5/5 ‘Essential Release’

Phwoar! If you’re looking for house so deep that bulging-eyed fish with luminous scrotums are flapping their fins several hundred feet above then you’ve come to the right domain as London house stalwart Dexter finally makes his debut on one of the UK’s finest labels. He’s already been released on labels including Wiggle, Uhuru Beats, Beat Code, Headtunes, Low Pressings and Bosh but this wayward pound was made for his brand of subterranean foraging which sees the classic NY deep house style as practiced in the early 90s by such giants as Wayne Gardner is mated with UK acid house sensibility. ‘Wanting You’ is sublimely subtle with swirling Detroit chords and the always-welcome female vocal shard in the ether. ‘All I Need’ is simply heavenly in the keyboard department while ‘Addicted’ a more shadowy excursion with acid bassline and a vole examining his scrotum in a tunnel. Lovely and essential.
