What’s it all about?
5 tracks by 5 artists – all demos that landed in the Lost My Dog inbox in recent months that we instantly fell in love with! It’s as simple as that!

What does it sound like?
It’s good old-fashioned groovy deep house as always with Lost My Dog! One for the fans of Maya Jane Coles, Burnski, Jimpster, Martin Dawson, Inland Knights and Jay Tripwire.

Who’s involved?
Harold Heath and Tom Lown have both worked with Lost My Dog previously – Harold is a true LMD stalwart having released 3 EPs, countless remixes and kicking off the label’s ‘Family Affair’ compilation series earlier in 2011, while Tom Lown was responsible for 2010’s ‘Love Potion EP’ which came backed by a Harold Heath remix and a further standalone remix EP by Jay Tripwire.

Acid Andee is Andrea Zanenghi from Italy and ‘Callao’ marks his first ever release. He will release a four track EP on Lost My Dog later in 2011. Pretty Criminals have had recent outings on Open Bar, SP Recordings and Endemic Digital – here they team up with German producer Miami Ice who has just released an EP with Unrivaled Music. Angus Jefford is another debutant – based in Leeds he runs the house night LaLoop which hosted a Lost My Dog party with Giom and Pete Dafeet earlier in the year. Turns out he makes great music too!

The Lowdown

‘Family Affair’ is a new series of full-length projects from Lost My Dog Records which shine a spotlight on the artists that have shaped the sound of the label. Up first is UK deep/tech house stalwart Harold Heath who presents a 13 track mix containing six original songs and five remixes previously released on Lost My Dog, alongside two brand new productions in ‘Antirobotics’ and ‘Daydreaming’. The collection will be released as a digital download package of the DJ mix and individual track downloads in February 2011.

Harold Heath’s first outing on Lost My Dog was in 2006 after he contacted the label asking to remix Adam B’s ‘Smoketoke’. As long-time fans of Harold’s music, it was a no brainer to take him up on the opportunity and launched a relationship which has seen the Brighton based DJ and producer release three EPs and six remixes for the careless canine owners. Supporters of Harold’s music on Lost My Dog have been wide ranging, including Tony Humphries, CJ Mackintosh, Mark Farina, Roger Sanchez and even Fedde Le Grand, who included ‘Streets Keep Rocking’ on his Ministry of Sound Sessions mix CD.

Harold Heath’s illustrious career began around the turn of the century and has earned him a reputation as one of the most consistent yet unsung heroes in UK house music. Aside form Lost My Dog his discography includes some of the worlds most respected underground labels including Detour, Plastic City, Stickman, Uhuru Beats, Oblong, Sensei and Urban Torque. It was for Urban Torque that he recorded his debut album ‘Hole Funk’.

The Lowdown

Lost My Dog welcome another talented new artist to the roster in South London’s Tom Lown. Tom’s sound is representative of the whole Lost My Dog ethos – it’s quite simply classic-sounding deep house with no airs and graces. Another exponent of that ethos is Harold Heath who provides a chunkier re-rub of the title track ‘Love Potion’. And for good measure (and because we’re jolly nice people) we’ve chucked in the blissful, sun-drenched, mid-tempo bonus track ‘The Return’.

In fact Tom Lown isn’t quite the newcomer we make out. Following a live music background, Tom started DJing at various parties and clubs in London back in the mid 90′s including Peg and Plastic People. A move to New York City saw him pick up a residency at SubKulture and also important online outlets East Village Radio and Downshift Radio. Through his work at a New York studio, Tom composed and produced music for TV and commercials. Now back in Catford, London, he continues to produce deep house, downbeat and electronica, and has secured releases on Sudup Recordings, Warmth and The Savant Guard alongside Lost My Dog.

Adding some extra beef to ‘Love Potion’ is long time LMD collaborator, and general legend of the UK deep/tech house scene, Harold Heath. Lost My Dog press releases have contained so many references to Harold Heath over the past 5 years that we’re sure you know all of this already, but… Harold is regarded as one of the most consistent and unsung heroes in UK house music. His discography includes some of the world’s most respected underground labels including Detour, Plastic City, Stickman and Urban Torque, for whom he recorded his debut album ‘Hole Funk’. Harold’s relationship with Lost My Dog began back in the summer of 2006, with a particular highlight along the way being his ‘Street’s Keep Rocking’ EP from which the title track was used by Fedde Le Grand on his Ministry of Sound Sessions CD. 2 further EPs and too many remixes to remember have landed his music in the sets of A-list DJs ranging from Tony Humphries and CJ Mackintosh to Mark Farina and Roger Sanchez.

A future release on Lost My Dog will see three very special Jay Tripwire remixes of Love Potion.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

As a member of the exceptional 2020 Soundsystem, Julian Sanza is currently one of the hardest working men in house music and so we’re delighted that he has managed to squeeze in a rare four track solo EP for us here at Lost My Dog. Julian’s ‘Hanging Out with Dimitri EP’ showcases a wide range of sounds from the Argentinean producer and keyboard wizard which takes in the deep bubbling groover ‘A Cumbachero’, the electrified Silver City-esque ‘Nada Personal’, chunky and gritty club beats on ‘Maldito Dimitri’ and a slower tempo broody deep cut in ‘Villa Crespo’. Fans of Jimpster, Gorge, Milton Jackson and Nick Curly should take note.

2020 Soundsystem, the band in which Julian plays keys alongside Ralph Lawson, Danny ‘Dubble D’ Ward and Fernando Pulichino, is currently on a relentless tour focused on America where their fanbase continues to grow and grow. The band has also just put the finishing touches to their 2nd album ‘Falling’ due for release in September.

Julian is also well known as one half of Silver City alongside Pulichino. It was this production outfit, along with the Ciudad Feliz project, that first gained him more widespread attention after arriving in Europe in 1997 and hooking up with Luciano and Jef K from the French label Silver Network. Ralph Lawson signed Silver City to 2020 Vision in 2002 and by Julian’s admission “Ralph saved my ass by getting me a proper work permit”. That was just the start of a very successful musical career that shows no sign of slowing.

Most of Julian Sanza’s original material has been released on his own label Heartbeat Revolutions, with occasional releases elsewhere for Polyphonics, Infant and the currently hot Italian label Rebirth.

Harold Heath delivers his 3rd original EP for Lost My Dog.  The ‘Lovebird EP’ yet again showcases Heath’s trademark production style which dissects the line between deep and tech house and draws on over a decade of delivering beats that rock underground dancefloors.  Both ‘Lovebird’ and ‘Run Tings’ are here in original and stripped back dubbier versions.

Harold Heath is regarded as one of the most consistent and unsung heroes in UK house music.  His discography includes some of the world’s most respected underground labels including Detour, Plastic City, Stickman and Urban Torque.  It was for Urban Torque that he recorded his debut album ‘Hole Funk’, a record which gave a much deeper insight into the range of production styles that Heath has mastered over his career; one which began shortly after the turn of the century with releases for Uhuru Beats, Oblong and Sensei.

Harold’s relationship with Lost My Dog began back in the summer of 2006, when he personally requested to remix Adam B’s ‘Smoketoke’.  The ‘Street’s Keep Rocking’ EP followed shortly afterwards and was an instant success, including in the most unlikely of places as Fedde Le Grand used the title track on his Ministry of Sound Sessions CD.  Harold also remixed Bernard Jones’ ‘Don’t You Wish’ for Lost My Dog at the end of 2008 and in early 2009 penned a sublime vocal effort in ‘Super Real’, which picked up praise from DJs ranging from Tony Humphries and CJ Mackintosh to Mark Farina and Roger Sanchez, while also scoring maximum marks from DMC Update.
